ROY WOOD Spectacular
Cheltenham 1999

ROY WOOD's ARMY 1999 Programme front cover

On Thursday 9th December 1999 I went to the ROY WOOD Spectacular which was held at the Cheltenham Town Hall.

The first act to come on stage was called DANGERFIELD. This band performed various covers of 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's songs made famous by THE WHO, THE KINKS, THE ANIMALS, THE LA'S, and ROBBIE WILLIAMS, to name but a few.

During the interval whilst at the merchandise table, I met and spoke to KELLY GROUCUTT of ELO. and ELO PART TWO.

Then after the interval ROY WOOD came on the stage and performed tracks from throughout his entire career. Tracks that included BLACKBERRY WAY, FIREBRIGADE, FLOWERS IN THE RAIN, CALIFORNIA MAN, SEE MY BABY JIVE, BALL PARK INCIDENT, ANGEL FINGERS, and of course I WISH IT COULD BE X-MAS EVERYDAY, as well as three new tunes. When the band came on I was amused at how many females were in the band.
